A cette époque, les 24 Heures du Mans commençaient en avril avec les essais préliminaires. En 1970, peu de participants prennaient part à ces essais car ils étaient programmés le même week-end que le meeting de Brand Hatch. On retrouvait toutefois quelques participants notables, Ferrari et Porsche en tête qui avaient missionné une équipe malgré la manche anglaise de championnat du monde, mais aussi une star qui arrivait tout droit des Etats Unis.

Steeve Mc Queen allait entretenir toutes les spéculations quant à sa participation à la grande course, d'autant que ce dernier venait de prendre la deuxième place aux 12 heures de Sebring.

At that time, the 24 Hours of Le Mans began in April with the preliminary tests. In 1970, a few racers were taking part in the tests because they were scheduled the same weekend as the meeting of Brand Hatch. However we found some notable participants, Ferrari and Porsche in first line which had commissioned a team despite the British round of the world championship, but also a star that came straight from the USA.

Steeve McQueen would maintain all the speculation about his participation in the great race, especially as he had taken the second place at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The car is owned by Jean Claude Aubriet and has already participated twice in the Le Mans event under the colors of Scuderia Filipinetti. Bought at the Scuderia by Henri Greder after the '69 edition, he participated in the Tour Auto, the same year before selling it to Jean Claude Aubriet.
